Certified Yoga Therapy Practitioner  / Group Facilitator
Phoenix Rising School of Yoga Therapy Faculty Member / Mentor

When I was younger I always felt that something about how I communicated was different. I was different. I wasn’t really part of anything. Being first generation Filipino American, I lived in a bilingual household but only spoke English. I adapted to hearing/understanding my parents/relatives when they spoke Tagalog (one of the many native Filipino dialects) by learning to read their tone, their body language and inflection. I learned to cope. As I grew older I used this way of coping throughout my relationships, but always felt misunderstood. There was a language, a perspective I had that always felt overlooked, unheard or ignored.

It made me feel outside of things ALL the time.

When I found Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy, I rediscovered the part of me that had lay silent for so many years. This part of me finally had the opportunity to voice my perspective of how I experienced the world. For the first time in my life I didn’t feel judged or questioned for why/what I am.

I simply had the opportunity to just be...ME.

From that moment I pursued my continuing studies with PRYT to become a Yoga Therapy Practitioner for individuals, partnerships and groups. I treated it like Graduate school to further understand myself and offer this opportunity of being seen and acknowledged in this world to every person within every community I touch. The power of touch is just that, powerful. In seeking to offer all beings the chance (if they choose to take it) to tap into their power within I have taken the steps to receive the highest recognized Yoga Therapy Certification (c-IAYT) through the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Life has its battles and challenges. We each come at them with a valued perspective, a way of seeing that is unique and full of purpose. I have my own struggles just like anyone else and fully admit to life being so big/so hard to deal with at times. Receiving this work has reminded me that I can walk through challenges, pain and grief, just as gracefully as I walk through joy, excitement and ease. To receive this work, you don’t need to have something wrong with you, you don’t need to be fixed, you CAN come in just as you are with all the things that make you, YOU.

All of you, all the parts of you are always welcome here.

I look forward to meeting you as you explore your connection to communication, healing and all that is seeking within you.
